Temporary Protected Status for El Salvador

We regret to inform you that the Department of Homeland Security has declined to renew Temporary Protected Status (commonly referred to as “TPS”) for El Salvador. This means that Salvadorans with TPS will only be able to remain in the United States lawfully until September 2019.
The Trump Administration also terminated TPS for Haitians and Nicaraguans.
  • TPS for Haitians will be valid until July 2019.
  • TPS for Nicaraguans will be valid until January 2019.
The Administration has yet to make a final determination as to whether TPS for Honduras will be renewed. For now, TPS for Hondurans is still valid and there is no final expiration date.
Individuals with an outstanding deportation order should be aware that at the expiration of the TPS period, you will be a priority for detention and removal.
We encourage you to seek legal advice to determine what legal options are available and become aware of your rights.  You should consult with a US immigration Lawyer.  Notarios are not lawyers in the US and do not understand the complex immigration law or the immigration court rules and procedures.
If you have any question about these issues or your immigration status in particular, please do not hesitate to contact our office to set-up a consultation at: 202-467-8340
